It’s time to meet “the Flying Girl” Amna Al Qubaisi, the 17 year old, Kaspersky Lab sponsored dynamo from the UAE and first female Emirati to race in Formula 4 next year.
Amna grew up around racing. Her father Khaled is the founder of the Daman Speed Academy and also Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Racing, so the roar of an engine was never far away and a passion for motorsport was inevitable as Amna grew up.
By the age of 9, Amna had already decided that her adult life would be spent in motorsport and by 13 years of age she had begun practising on the track.
At just 17 years of age, “The Flying Girl” is now competing in Formula 4 and in Europe for the Prema Racing Team, one of the leading Italian motorsport outfits. With Prema’s reputation for driver development (another driver sponsored by Kaspersky Lab, Antonio Fuoco, also races for Prema) the future looks very bright for Amna.
Amna Al Qubaisi geared up for the first of two major championships in the short span of a month – the X30 World Finals in Le Mans. Results didn’t go Amna’s way but despite that she had learnt a lot and showed speed for her first time racing at Le Mans in France.
Into the future
Alongside her Formula 4 development, Amna will be competing in two Grand Finals before 2017 is over. She had already left her mark in Le Mans and next up in November will see her taking on the rest of the field in the Rotax Max Grand Finals in Portugal. We at Kaspersky Motorsport will be supporting her all the way of course!
The first Emirati girl to win the Rotax Max Challenge series, finishing at the top of the Senior Max category by a massive 173 points.
The first Arab woman to qualify for the F4 championship
Winner of the GCC Young Drivers Academy programme held in Bahrain and the UAE.
UAE Teen Sports & Fitness Awards winner.
I want to show that women are capable of doing what a man can do in a male-dominated sport.” And “I’ve spent most of my life behind a steering wheel. Amna Al Qubaisi
