- Amna Al Qubaisi Races in Round 4 of The Italian Karting Championship
- Hamda Al Qubaisi Fought Alongside Her Sister
- The Al Qubaisi Sister's Were The Only 2 Girls in The 34 Entries
- Amna Qualified 16th and Finished 12th
The Al Qubaisi sisters Amna (17) and Hamda (14) came away rich in experience from their outing at Round 4 of the Italian Karting Championship in Adria over the weekend.
It was never going to be easy fighting for places against some of the best drivers in the business, but the two Abu Dhabi schoolgirls, racing with Chiesa Corse on CRG chassis, were determined to give their best and gain as much as experience as they continue to move ahead in their motorsport careers.
Incidentally, Amna and Hamda were the only two girls in the field of 34.
Khaled Al Qubaisi said: “We came here to compete against the best in karting and have the girls gain experience on tracks with high levels of grip. They performed really well and have been constantly improving upon their times and results.
“Amna managed to finish 12th in the second heat and qualified 15th for the semi-final. She was unfortunate in the first Final race to spin out of the race due to an incident while fighting for position and had to start the second Final race from the back of the grid. Having started from the back, she got bogged down by the drivers in front of her. Amna then had a spin and two off track adventures while trying to overtake those in front of her; had it not been for these incidents, Amna could well have finished inside the top-10. Hamda did extremely well in the second final race gaining 4 places and finishing 13th.
“Considering it is their first time racing here on high levels of grip on the track, they have done extremely well. We are all impressed and happy with their performance under these conditions, and at the end they were only two tenths of a second off the fastest.
“We were racing with Dino Chiesa who had the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Max Verstappen race with him before moving to Formula 1 racing.”
