The Formula 2 show races into Abu Dhabi for the season finale to mark the end of an incredibly intense season that has really seen only a few drivers dominate the series, but one driver in particular has outshone the rest to take the 2017 Formula 2 crown – Ferrari Development Driver Charles Le Clerc (Antonio Fuoco’s Prema Racing teammate).
With this year’s championship already wrapped up, there is still the final race to be won and two opportunities for Antonio Fuoco to stand proud on the top step of the podium at the Yas Marina Circuit through the Feature Race and Sprint Race.
Aiding his charge for the podium will be his speedy and reliable #2 Prema Team racecar. Pirelli has also nominated the Pirelli P Zero yellow-striped soft and red-striped Supersoft tyres for the Abu Dhabi race weekend. The advantage of using these sets of tyres is that they provide the extra grip on the smooth surface, whilst not compromising optimum speed at the Yas Marina Circuit. The harder, yet more durable tyre compound isn’t needed, as tyre degradation remains low.
If history repeats itself, then Antonio Fuoco will be feeling confident of repeating his success from previous seasons of reaching the podium to claim his race trophy.

An insight into Round 11
There has been a lengthy break between Round 10 and 11, but the focus is all on winning, with the last race honours of the year up for grabs.
Anotnio Fuoco will need to tackle the long and fast corners throughout sector one at the Yas Marina Circuit before attacking the long straights in the short-timed sector two. The first part of the lap remains high-speed, which is why it’s tricky to find the correct car set-up for this circuit. The biggest challenge then awaits Antonio Fuoco in sector three where there are 6 corners that will test his resilience with a variety of left and tight right-handers.
The key, as with any corner will be carrying the fastest speed into the turn and trying not to compromise the exit. Antonio Fuoco will opt for a medium downforce package, which places emphasis on mechanical grip from the tyres into all 21 corners. This won’t affect his top-end speed on the two high-speed straights.
As expected, temperatures will soar into the 40’s on track with the weather forecast predicting to be a hot and dry race weekend, which will help the teams strategists perfect the right strategy to aid Antonio’s challenge for the F2 Abu Dhabi GP Feature Race win.
A tricky feature of this race weekend, as like Formula 1, the race enters into the night which, means cooler on-track temperatures and perhaps there could be a slight tail wind, all factors that the Prema Team will need to overturn to find the perfect lap.
